The First Wing Pressure Monitor for Paragliding

While your vario tracks the sky, ParaBaro measures your wing. Real-time differential pressure sensing across four canopy points feeds an internal pressure dataset we use to characterise wing behaviour. Supplementary awareness tool, not a safety device.

What Makes It Different

Every pilot already knows where the thermals are. ParaBaro is the first instrument to tell you whether your wing can handle them.

4-Channel Wing Pressure Sensing

Two sensor nodes — one at each side of the wing — each consisting of two magnetically-coupled modules measuring differential inflation pressure through the wing fabric. 4 channels total, sampling at 10 Hz across a 0–200 Pa range. The data no other instrument collects — from inside your wing, not outside it.

  • Measures asymmetric canopy loading
  • Records pressure changes that precede visible canopy deformation
  • Continuous during manoeuvres, thermals, and turbulence

Pressure Pattern Characterisation

A pressure analysis system runs on-device and in the cloud. The on-device stage processes pressure and IMU data continuously; the cloud stage cross-references that against GPS and barometric data for post-flight analysis. Specific timing and accuracy figures are part of our research and not published while the work is in progress.

  • Pressure asymmetry is measured before it becomes visibly evident on the canopy — a research direction no altitude instrument enables
  • Improves with every beta pilot flight uploaded
  • Pressure-state data and audio vario tones available to the pilot's preferred device

GPS Vario + IGC Logging

Multi-constellation GPS with 1 Hz positioning, IGC logging with digital signature, and XContest-valid upload. BLE streaming to XCTrack, Flymaster, XCSoar, and other apps at the same time.

  • Digitally signed IGC for XContest and FAI submissions
  • Simultaneous BLE streaming to phone and tablet
  • Firmware updates via USB

Earn the device back as you fly

Every flight you upload contributes anonymous pressure data to the world's first wing pressure dataset. You earn credit at a flat £10 per validated flight hour — every flight type the same — capped at the £350 device balance.

  • £10 per validated flight hour, every flight type the same
  • Full device payback possible for active pilots
  • Data stays yours — CSV and IGC always exportable

Works With Your Existing Setup

ParaBaro does not replace your vario. It adds the one dimension your vario cannot provide. BLE 5.0 means it connects alongside your existing instruments simultaneously — no compromise needed.

"Your vario tells you where the thermals are. ParaBaro tells you if your wing is about to fold."
Flymaster

B1 Nav, B2 Nav, B3 Nav, LIVE SD, GPS SD. ParaBaro streams pressure data to XCTrack on the same BLE connection as your Flymaster.

BLE 5.0 compatible
Skytraxx

2.1, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 series. Skytraxx handles your GPS track; ParaBaro adds the canopy pressure data your Skytraxx cannot measure.

BLE 5.0 compatible
Syride

Nav V3, Nav XL, Evo V2, GPS V4. Use the full Syride community platform for flights. ParaBaro adds internal wing pressure data to your logbook.

BLE 5.0 compatible
Air3

Air3 7.35 and 7.35+. XCTrack Pro receives ParaBaro pressure data via BLE at the same time as your full Air3 feature set continues working.

BLE 5.0 compatible
XCTrack / XCSoar

Any Android device running XCTrack Pro or XCSoar receives the BLE stream. Wing pressure status overlays onto your existing flight screen.

What's in the Box

Everything you need to fly with ParaBaro from your first flight.

ParaBaro Receiver

The main device — GPS, IMU, BLE, barometer, battery. Mounts to your harness or reserve handle.

Pressure Sensor Nodes (x2)

Two sensor nodes, one per wing side. Each node consists of two magnetically-coupled modules (internal + external) measuring differential inflation pressure through the wing fabric. Installed through open cells at the leading edge — one-time setup per glider.

Mounting Hardware

Receiver clip, harness strap adapter, and sensor retention sleeves. Designed for quick attachment without tools.

USB-C Charging Cable

1.5 m braided cable for charging and data transfer. Works with any standard USB-C charger.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — and that is the point. ParaBaro is a companion device, not a replacement. It connects alongside your Flymaster, Skytraxx, Syride, or Air3 via BLE 5.0 and adds the one capability those instruments cannot provide: real-time internal wing pressure data. Your existing instruments continue working exactly as they did.

Every flight you upload to the ParaBaro cloud platform earns credit at a flat £10 per validated flight hour. Credits accumulate in your account and redeem against the device value (£350 to earn, on top of the £99 to join). There is no subscription.

ParaBaro uses 4 differential pressure channels sampling at 10 Hz across a 0–200 Pa range, a 6-axis IMU (3-axis accelerometer + 3-axis gyroscope), a high-resolution barometric altimeter at 10 Hz, and a multi-constellation GPS at 1 Hz. The sensor transmitters mount inside your wing; the receiver clips to your harness.

ParaBaro records digitally signed IGC files at 1 Hz, valid for XContest and FAI submissions. It is a supplementary data collection device and does not interfere with any certified flight instrument. Competition rules vary by event — check with your organiser if in doubt.
