Beta programme — the rules of the game
Everything about money, hours, ownership and data in one place. No surprises in small print — this page is the small print, written to be read.
1. The money
- £99 inc. VAT — the only payment you make. It is a participation fee, charged when your application is accepted (not when you apply).
- £449 — the device value. The ParaBaro unit remains Aviometrics property until you have earned this back in full.
- £10 per validated flight hour — your earn-back rate. At 35 validated hours you have earned £350; with your £99 fee that covers the £449 and the device is yours.
- There are no other costs: no subscription, no shipping charge, no data fees during the beta.
2. What counts as a validated hour
A flight counts toward your earn-back when all of the following hold:
- It was flown with the ParaBaro device recording on your wing;
- You upload the paired files — the IGC track and the ParaBaro CSV — for the same flight;
- The upload passes automatic validation (GPS plausibility, real movement, matching timestamps). You see the validation result on your dashboard, normally within minutes.
Ground handling, simulator sessions, or flights without the device do not count. If a genuine flight fails validation (e.g. a corrupted file), contact us — a human looks at every disputed case.
3. What you commit to
- Fly with the device and upload paired IGC + CSV files after each flight;
- Work toward the 35 validated hours (there is no deadline, but the programme is most useful — to you and to us — when you fly regularly);
- Report issues you encounter and answer occasional feedback requests;
- Allow your anonymised flight data to be used for research and product development (see Data, below).
4. Ownership, leaving early, broken hardware
- The earn-back is pro-rated: log 20 hours and you have earned £200 of the £350. The device remains Aviometrics property until the full value is reached.
- Leaving early: tell us, return the device, and that is the end of it — there is no automatic penalty and no claw-back of your participation fee beyond the fee itself. Every early exit is discussed directly and settled fairly.
- Hardware failure: if the device fails through no fault of yours, we repair or replace it at our cost and your earned hours are unaffected.
- Damage or loss: normal flying wear is on us; loss or clearly negligent damage is discussed case by case — we are a small company and we will be straight with you, expecting the same back.
5. Your data
- Your flights belong to you. You can export or delete them from your dashboard at any time.
- What we use for research is anonymised: pressure traces, track geometry and detected events — never your name or contact details. Details in the Privacy Policy.
- The dataset this builds — the first wing-pressure dataset in free flight — is the entire point of the beta. You are paid (in earn-back credit) for the data that makes every pilot safer.
- AI personalisation (ParaGuru) is off by default and controlled by you in Settings.
6. Support and timelines
- Application decision: reply within 7 days; final in/out decision within 14 days. (You will receive a confirmation email immediately on applying — if you do not, something went wrong: write to us.)
- Support: direct email contact with the team; we aim to respond within 24–48 hours.
- Hardware waves: devices ship in production batches; your acceptance email states which wave you are in.
